Dreams

He ambles in shadows whilst I’m asleep,
Dreams a conduit for our rendezvous.
My feelings and memories mine to keep,
Reveries where he affirms “I love you.”

An elusive love, one that cannot be,
Only awakens inside slumber deep.
When we are together, tranquil, and free,
And my heart is his, forever to keep.

Whimsical fantasies doth prevail,
Of a life that will never emerge.
Silently languish, forever travail,
A consummate yearning where passions surge.

Amour is, indeed, chaotic and cruel,
A dwindling fire devoid of the fuel.

“Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.” ~ Edgar Allan Poe
