From caterpillar into a monarch,
Multicolored enchanter diurnal.
Quite an adventure for her to embark,
Attracting admiration eternal.
A protective cocoon she does create,
The process itself, indeed, to transform.
A four-week hibernation to gestate,
Magnificent metamorphic art form.
To evade predators she does mimic,
Relying on protective camouflage.
Ensuring survival is no gimmick,
Presenting herself as a false mirage.
Such an evolved life cycle prodigious,
Among insects, she is quite prestigious.
“What the caterpillar calls the end of the world the master calls a butterfly.” ~ Richard Bach
