Just “above” Laughlin on the Colorado River (and approximately 70 miles downstream from Hoover Dam) sits Davis Dam. Originally called Bullhead Dam after nearby Bullhead City that sits across the river from Laughlin, Davis Dam was later renamed after US Bureau of Reclamation director Arthur Powell Davis. Whereas Hoover Dam forms Lake Mead, Davis Dam forms Lake Mohave.
