Appetite

A chasm exists between love and lust,
Lust implicates a sensuous longing.
Like the disparity ‘tween doubt and trust,
Where love is more a sense of belonging.

Lust is carnal, a lascivious fire,
A fleshly, all-encompassing fervor.
When one is consumed with burning desire,
Often vague to the casual observer.

Serial lusters adopt a credo,
With some it manifests as sheer hunger.
Ruled by an overwhelming libido,
Usually for somebody younger.

A passionate and unquenchable thirst,
Absent love, a situation accursed.

“Curiosity is the lust of the mind.” ~ Thomas Hobbes
