I have read about the Ward Charcoal Ovens which were used to create charcoal for mining smelting and, later, as hideouts for stagecoach bandits. Located southeast of Ely, Nevada, these towering kilns look awesome in photos, but I had no idea how amazing they would look up close and personal. Truly impressive and awe inspiring.
